Just visiting the island for a holiday or, thinking about "Starting a New Life in Cyprus"?

Question:

Do I need a Travel Insurance?

Answer:

Travelling overseas always involves risks and nobody knows what could happen when planning a trip to a Foreign Country. In most of the cases, the domestic coverage or travel assistance will not provide the adequate protection and you could be exposed to substantial non expected charges.

Buying Travel Insurance provides peace of mind to your trip and protection in case you and/or your travel companions need to afford unexpected extra costs like Medical expenses, Cancellation or Interruption charges, Trip Delays, Emergency Medical Evacuation, Repatriation, Lost / delay of Baggage, lost of Personal Effects, Flight accidents, and more.

Tips:

It is not advisable to buy your travel insurance from the individual travel provider, meaning don't buy your travel insurance from the travel agent or tour operator from who you buy your holiday/trip. Why? If that company goes out of business, chances are, so does their insurance (which at the best, could get very, very messy).

It's a good idea to book your travel insurance at the latest directly after booking your holiday or flight, so you'll be covered for cancellation. Make sure you know the insurer's conditions for cancellation though.

While it may be tempting, it's really not a good idea to rely on a European Health Insurance Card to provide cover on your travels, you still need sufficient travel insurance to cover all your healthcare costs as well as Cancellation / Delay, Lost / delay of Baggage, Loss of Personal Effects, Flight accidents, repatriation back to your home country by whatever means are deemed appropriate (air ambulance, airline etc.) and so forth in the case of a medical emergency.
