When you arrive in a Cyprus village just pause for a moment to
take in a breath of clean mountain air
combined
with the scent of pine fresh forests.
Away from typical
touristy areas you are set to experience the real delights of
Cyprus and it's people.
Taking a leisurely stroll through the village you will often notice
a selection of new and renovated traditional village homes
with thick
walls, small windows, stone or wooden staircases,
so typical of our island’s architecture of yesteryear.
As you wander down
the winding village streets look out for the lovely gardens
decorated with stunning red bougainvilleas,
cacti and bright geraniums, together with the many
grape vines, apple, lemon, mandarin, orange
and pomegranate trees which seem to be around every corner.
Don't be surprised to find locals and expats relaxing on their
veranda, patio or garden with a drink or a book any time of
the day.
Passing the local supermarket, bank and butchers shop will
frequently bring you into an attractive open
village centre square where you will
time and again find a
small ancient church.
With it's Tavernas, local Restaurants, Village hall and
Community gardens, the square is the hub of village life where
many activities and festivals take place throughout the year.
Before leaving the village why not really let all you have
seen soak in over a glass of wine or two and maybe
enjoy
the delicious kebabs {souvlakia} and
local sausages {sheftalia} with plenty of village style salad
and jacket potatoes that have been perfectly cooked over
charcoal at the local Taverna.
Village life
offers
a heartfelt welcome to a lifestyle closely linked to nature
and tradition
where dreams can come true.
